Resume Drs Hans TenDam, CMC (1943)
He has been an independent management consultant since 1970. He studied psychology and pedagogy at the University of Amsterdam and specialized in adult education. Already during his study, he entered into management development. As he took a course in EDP at the University as one of his subjects (in 1966 this was considered weird), he soon entered the world of computer applications, mainly in engineering. He always has had a penchant for the exact sciences, though educated in the humanities. In many of his consultancy assignments bridging the two worlds was of the essence.
From management development he moved into conflict resolution and into designing and redesigning organizational structures and then into corporate strategy. He was one of the first who explored the application of strategic management to the public sector. His clients have ranged from a paramilitary group over a car tire factory to a meditation center. His assignments have ranged from national energy policy to personal career advice. In the Netherlands, his major customers during 20 years were the police forces. Fortunately, he never became their customer.
Because of his psychology background, he has always been involved in personal counseling to executives and policy-makers. This has increasingly led to management coaching and what is called nowadays life coaching. He is training consultants and therapists in coaching methods in Europe, Asia and South America. He has lived and worked for some time in New Zealand and in Brazil.
His focus is now on organizational constellations and on his own methods for core issue analysis and developing personal mastery.
